16 weeks and counting...

We are now at 16 weeks, which is incredibly exciting. Rae is starting to feel the flutter of movement. I am looking forward to the point when I can feel Chucy moving around. We get more excited every day! It is such an incredible time in our life together. I am in awe of my beautiful wife.

Grammy Present #12

Grammy made this beautiful sweater with her own hands. It also comes with a funny story.

Last spring, we went home to Massena or spring break. We brought the guys with us. One morning, while we all sat together watching TV Pugsley happened to snart (sneeze with a toot). My mother was knitting the sweater on the couch, but in that moment tok a drink of coffee. She laughed so hard that she spit coffee all over my dad with a little dribble on the cardigan. The spots were washed off and now this beautiful gift comes with a comical moment and a great memory of the pug man.

Expectant Mother Parking

We parked in one of the special spaces at Giant the other night. It made me chuckle, but also made me feel a sense of excitement. Rae is really starting to show. She is wearing belly bands most days now and has a cute, little belly. It is amazing to think that tomorrow will be four months. Part of me can't wait for Chucy to be here, but I am enjoying the journey. Besides, the house is not ready yet....there is still a lot of work to do.

Celebrating friends...

This was a big week of weddings. Our friends, Mel and Angie got married in DC on Tuesday. It was a gloomy day, but as they say "rainy wedding, sunny marriage". That has certainly been the case with us.

Today we had the great honor of attending the wedding of our friends, Tricia and Kelly in DC. It was truly a week full of celebrations of love, friends and family. It makes me very thankful not only for the wonderful people that we have by our side in this journey, but also for the strides forward for equality. We will bring our little Chucy into a world that is slowly, but surely opening up to honor all families.

2nd midwife appointment

(Don't worry, we know we have a few other pics to post --- grammy presents, belly pics--- they're on their way).

Today was our 2nd midwife appointment. We didn't "love" our midwife today. She wasn't as warm and fuzzy as I would have hoped and she actually made me feel a bit anxious. She discouraged me from taking TUMS for indigestion, but rather Papaya pills. That's fine, but she had no real knowledge of said Papaya pills (e.g., supplement or tablet). She also recommended that I drink a minimum of 2 liters of water... wooo- that's a lot of water, and a lot of peeing. She also discouraged me from drinking ANYTHING else... as if my 1 soda a week is too much. Sadly, I felt like a number today, and she didn't really look at my file until she walked into the examine room. She seemed cold and waited for me and Morgan to ask questions about test results.

On a happier note, we did hear Chucy's heartbeat again. That was special.

Our next ultrasound is on June 18th for an anatomy ultrasound and our next midwife appointment (with another midwife) is on June 21st.

Today... MARKS 2nd Trimester!!! Yay.

Our new ride...

After extensive research by me, Morgan agreed to trade-in Silvio (the Silver Civic) for a brand new Mazda5 (sport edition). We'll call her Maisy the Mazda5! It has 2nd row captain chairs and an optional 3rd row pop up chairs, with 2 sliding doors! It has a 6 cd changer and aux hook up, and of course, Morgan's fave CRUISE CONTROL! To be true soccer moms, it has cargo space under the chairs, and a little pop up center console in the 2nd row with cup/baby bottle holders and a little table. I picture many roadtrip Uno games and cheerios (which our canine babies will happily clean up).

YAY!

Sono Pics, 13 weeks

Sonogram - here's looking at you, Chucy!

We had our screening sonogram today. The purpose is to check measurements and make sure everything is coming along well. The measurements were all good. And we heard the heart beat. There were tears...from both us. Truly amazing!
